rems Privacy Policy
rems is a household app for chores, dinners, groceries, recipes, a weekly check-in and a private document vault. This policy explains what rems stores, who can see it, who else handles it, and how to delete it. rems has no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and we never sell your data.
What rems stores
- Your account: your email address and password. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash by our database provider; nobody can read them.
- Your household: the household's name, members' names, and an invite code for joining.
- What your household adds: chores and who completed them, dinner plans, recipes, grocery lists, stores, and weekly check-ins.
- The Vault: documents and photos your household chooses to keep, such as insurance cards, medical, financial and household documents, and any notes on them. These can contain health, insurance and financial details.
rems only stores what you or your household members enter or add. It does not collect your location, contacts, browsing, or device identifiers.
Who can see it
Everything in a household is shared with the members of that household who have a login, and with no one else. Anyone with your household's invite code can join it, so share the code only with people you trust, and reset it from the Household screen if needed.
Who else handles it
- Supabase hosts rems's database, sign-in and file storage. Your data is stored there, encrypted in transit, and access is limited to your household by database rules.
- Anthropic (the maker of the Claude AI) reads recipes for you, only when you allow it. When you import a recipe from a photo, PDF, pasted text, or a link rems can't read on its own, rems asks first, and only then sends that recipe source to Anthropic to turn it into ingredients and directions. Anthropic does not use it to train its models and handles it under its own privacy policy. You can turn this off at any time in the profile menu ("Read Recipes with Claude"). Recipes rems can read on your phone never leave it.
Nothing else is shared with anyone.
On your phone
rems keeps an encrypted copy of your Vault on your phone so it opens offline, and can lock it with Face ID. Face ID is handled by iOS; rems never sees your face data. Chore reminders are scheduled on your phone. Signing out erases the phone's copy of the Vault and its reminders.
Deleting your data
- Delete your account in the app: profile menu, then Delete Account. This deletes your login and your member name.
- If nobody else in your household has a login, deleting your account also deletes the whole household: every chore, dinner, recipe, grocery item, check-in, and every Vault document and photo.
- If others in your household still use rems, the household's shared content stays with them.
- Anything you delete in the app (a chore, recipe or Vault document) is deleted from our servers.
Children
rems is meant for adults managing a household and is not directed at children under 13. Children can be listed as household members by name, but they don't have accounts.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
